OK, so it's been a few months since we had a news update, but after last Saturday's Cauliflower gig, I thought that it was about time to have something and also showcase some videos of the night as I finally managed to get my video camera working properly.

Just in case you missed it, we had a top night, thanks to the able assistance of the special guests that we had helping us out, in the shape of the Brass Monkeys (formerly known as the BMW Horns - Den's son Bill, Mitch and Den's neighbour Wayne), our friendly neighbourhood horn section, specially assembled for our Curzon Halloween charity gig but now with the unenviable task of joining us from time to time to give our sound a major swing! As well as giving us some major brass backing on songs like Valerie and Crazy Horses, Mitch also provided the sax solo in Brown Sugar and a cool harmonica in Jean Genie, while Bill stood in for his dad on drums for Sweet Child, for me on guitar on Teen Spirit, as well as providing additional percussion on new Muse song Uprising (some people just have too much talent! and youth! and hair!! :-)

Anyway, why not check out the videos below and see what you think?

As well as debuts for our version of Uprising, we also premiered All The Young Dudes (Mott The Hoople) and The One I Love (REM), which both went pretty well for first timers. Judge for yourselves:

Well, needless to say, we all had a top night and it bodes well for our December Christmas gig where we hope to have the pleasure of the Brass Monkeys company again for more of the same.

So what have we been doing in the last few months, you might also be curious to know? Well, October brought us another 2 great gigs, with the Corbets Tey Charity gig, where we helped raise funds for the special needs school that is very close to our hearts. The place was packed with party people and everyone seemed to have a great time. Someone enjoyed our set so much that they offered to donate £500 to us for playing. We happily accepted their gift and passed it straight over into the schools donation fund (We do a lot of work for charidee but we don't like to talk about it!:-) Anyway, needless to say, we're already looking forward to the next Corbets Tey gig and it would be nice to see some more Monkey See regulars down there supporting us and the school.

Apart from that, October was notable for another outstanding Cauli gig. I think that October last year there was our best gig of the year and October this year was no different. We had a heaving crowd that were up to party from the off - and party they did, from first to last!

Anyway, that's our update for now. Hope to see you all at the Cauli for our December Xmas gig and then on every FIRST FRIDAY from there on in, as we're moving days so you can see us for free in 2010! How's that for a recession buster? :-)

Andy
