Charlie the Monkey Charlie the Monkey

24/11/07
Well, there goes a funny old November in the Monkey See camp. We've played a couple of gigs this month (as usual), both with completely unexpected results. Firstly, we played at the Fatling and Firkin - traditionally a venue where the newer tunes and a good dose of indie go down a little better than the rock standards, before finishing our gigs for the month last Saturday at The Cauliflower, a gig which promised to be tough with a lot of competition for live band crowds with East of Java playing locally at The Valentine and Expose (can't be arsed to find an accented E on my keyboard but you know who I mean) at the Lord Napier.

Bizarrely, both gigs went the opposite way to what we expected, with the Fatling gig being a fairly low key affair and the Cauli absolutely ROCKING with a good enthusiastic crowd!

Apart from the gigs, we've also been looking to book up our dates for 2008. It seems that we've left it a little late booking some of our regular venues, with us having trouble finding dates to play for the Fatling and The Valentine (where we wanted to get a few gigs this year) and the Marne being impossible to book at the moment after the very sad death of their lovely landlady Sue (click here to go to Sues book of condolence on the Livebandphotos website). Thankfully, we are booked for The Nap and our regular at The Cauliflower, although we've moved our dates to the 3rd Saturday of every month now.

For a last piece of news; for those of you that were wondering how Den got on with the final of the XFM Marketeers competition that he won a semi-final of last month - well him and Sara WON the big £10k first prize for the whole thing! To go to the XFM website to read about Den winning his prize and hear his winning entry click here. Well done Dennis - our multi-media megastar! :-)

Our next gig is our Christmas gig at the Cauliflower on Saturday 22nd December so do remember to come on down and start your festive celebrations with us. I will also be playing some guest dates with our old mates Anthem over the Christmas period, so if anyone wants to come on down and support me and the Anthem boys, check their website for dates from the 23rd December to the 4th of January

Lastly, Den will be donning his Los Endos alter-ego for their next gig on Sunday 16th December. Click here for details. This will be the day before Den's birthday too so go along and see them, if Genesis is your thing, and he may buy you a pint! (Word has it that he is OK for a few quid at the moment! :-)

Merry Christmas Everybody!

Andy :-)
